The Ministry of Commerce of P. R. China set up strict standards for domestic exhibitors:
A. Annual domestic sales volume of RMB10 million minimum; or an annual export volume of US$ 1million or above;
B. No records of breach of laws such as infringement of Intellectual Property Rights and trade fraud practices.
CIAPE 2007 also set up an Intellectual Property Rights Protection Office at the venue and during the exhibition there was not a single dispute involving IPR infringement.

The CIAPE 2007 drew the attention of major media both from home and abroad, such as China Central TV (CCTV), Beijing TV (BTV), Beijing Traffic Radio, China Automotive News, Ta Kung Pao, Economic Daily, Sina.com, Gasgoo.com, Reuters, ABC NEWS (USA), Dow Jones Newswires (USA), Automotive News, Reforma (Mexico), Valor (Brazil), and Auto Engineering and Spares (South Africa), etc.

Most of the exhibitors and visitors hold very high opinion about CIAPE 2007 for its unprecedented scale and magnitude, its internationalization and specialization. They all shared the opinion that CIAPE serves not only as a convenient channel for auto parts enterprises to build up their ties with world leading purchasers and suppliers but also established itself as a leading platform for the auto parts industry in the world.
CIAPE 2007 as an internationalized and specialized platform held by the Chinese government for exhibition, trade, exchange and cooperation was a great success.

Part II: Comments from Overseas Participants
As the organizer of SEMA show in Las Vegas with over 7,000 members all around the world, Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) displayed its tuning cars for the first time in China.
Mr. Chris Kersting, President and CEO of SEMA
“I would like to express our appreciation to the organizing committee of CIAPE for inviting SEMA delegation to such a professional auto parts expo in China. The arrangement, the scale and level of CIAPE have impressed the whole delegation a lot. It took SEMA 30 years to develop its own exhibition to the present scale, and I am truly honored and delighted to witness the success of the CIAPE 2007.”
“First of all, on behalf of SEMA, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the Organizing Committee of CIAPE for holding such a successful auto parts exposition” said Mr. Wade Kawasaki, the International Task Force Chairman of SEMA, when he gave his speech at the International Forum on Import & Export and Global Purchasing.
Ms. Linda Spencer, Director of International and Government Relations, SEMA
“SEMA will promote CIAPE 2008 by means of SEMA website and media. We are totally convinced that more SEMA members will participate in the next CIAPE. SEMA will also prepare for a larger booth next year.”

Nebe Tamburro, P. Eng CEO, Ontario Spencer Logistics, Canada
“CIAPE is an authentic platform for promoting Canada-China cooperation in the auto industry. For years, I’ve attended lots of auto parts exhibitions all over the world and CIAPE can be listed as one of the best.”

Mr. Mark Eaton from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI)
“CIAPE 2007 provides a national platform and will surely effectively push forward the cooperation between auto parts companies in China and Britain. We will continue to promote CIAPE 2008 and the opportunities it offers to British enterprises and related associations. I am sure that more British exhibitors will participate in CIAPE 2008. ”
He also invited Prof. Michael Tovey, Director for Design from Coventry University as a speaker to address at the technological forum of CIAPE 2007.
Mr. Mark Eaton also expressed, “I am personally astonished by the efficiency and professional organization of CIAPE 2007. With her rising auto parts market, China is the most focused arena for the global elites gathering in the auto parts industry. Chinese companies and institutions are more than welcomed to establish cooperation in technology and trade with British companies. And we would also like to invite Chinese auto parts enterprises to set up branches in Britain and to seek mutual development on a win-win basis. ”

As an exhibitor, Bosch (China) is happy with the CIAPE 2007.
Mr. Peter Peng, President of Bosch (China) Investment Ltd.
“Bosch is very proud to be a part of China’s auto industry. As a world leading supplier, Bosch provides all range of innovated technologies. And we will continuously devote ourselves to innovations in energy-saving, harmful emission control and auto safety.”
Mr. Marcello Assandri, Marketing Director of Bosch (China) Investment Ltd.
“Bosch (China) is very glad to witness the great success of the CIAPE 2007 in Beijing. CIAPE 2007 established a bridge for communication and exchange for China’s auto parts industry. The professional preparation and operation have left us deep impression. Hereby, on behalf of Bosch (China), I would like to express our sincere thanks and wish CIAPE 2008 a greater success! ”

Mr. Zhou Xinyu, Deputy Director of the Foreign Department of Denso(China)Investment Co., Ltd believed that two distinctive features can be drawn from CIAPE 2007.
“Firstly, it is a highly specialized exhibition. Both visitors and media are related to the auto industry, quite different from the Auto China in Beijing and Shanghai, in which the auto parts pavilion are dwarfed by the vehicles. As a specialized auto parts exhibition, CIAPE attracts only professionals and trade visitors and the auto parts companies can do better promotion. Secondly, authoritative and instructive summit forums and seminars are held along with the exposition. High ranking officials from the Ministry of Commerce of China and representatives from world famous companies like Bosch, BMW etc were invited to deliver speeches. It offered a good opportunity for auto parts enterprises to get face to face contacts with the world top managers and scholars. ”
Mr. Zhou also assured Denso’s participation in the next CIAPE.

BMW China---As the world most renowned automotive group, BMW participated in the CIAPE 2007.
Mr. Peter Voelk, Head of BMW’s International Purchasing in China promised that BMW will continue to promote its global purchasing system, its unified world quality standard and will steadily advance its localization in China. BMW has a long term commitment to the Chinese market and is now taking an active role in building up steady and long-term cooperation with competitive Chinese auto parts companies. BMW are willing to make its own contribution to the development of China’s auto parts industry.

Mr. Lee Joun-Shik, Prisident of the Korea based Automotive Industry Globalization Foundation (AIN Global)
“This is a magnificent, exciting and unbelievable exposition. It is totally a miracle that the CIAPE 2007 could achieve such a great success. It can be listed among the 5 most influential auto parts exhibitions worldwide. Before our visit to China, we did a survey among some Korean auto parts enterprises. After a brief introduction, more than 20 Korean companies showed their great interests in CIAPE 2008 and approved their participation for the next CIAPE.” AIN Global has signed a cooperation contract with the organizer right after the exhibition and promised to organize at least 30 Korean companies to participate in CIAPE 2008.

Mr. Zufar Davledvaev, Chief Representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation
“The scale of CIAPE is beyond my expectation. China has witnessed fast development and the Chinese people are really great! This is my first time to see a Hydrogen power car in GM booth in Hall 8. ”

Mr. Shi Xiaofeng, Chief Representative of the Purchasing Dept. Of the Ukrine KITPRED Automotive Industry Corp., Ltd.
“We find all the exhibits with premium quality. However, due to the short show time, we can not finish visiting all the booths we are interested in. We highly suggest a longer show time for the next CIAPE which will offer us enough time to contact with more exhibitors in depth.”

Ms. Lunkova Ludmila, Amur Chamber of Commerce and Industry
“The entrepreneurs in our delegation found their ideal products and closed several deals during CIAPE 2007. We hope that Chinese companies could seek their future development in Amur or attend expositions there. We will participate in the next expo for purchasing and negotiation.”

Mr. Gvidas Kerusauskas, Assistant to Commercial attache of the Lithuania Embassy to China

H.E. Mr. Rathakit Manathat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand in China
Along with his high praise for CIAPE 2007, H.E. Mr. Rathakit Manathat said, “I've attended the exhibition and the forums and seminars. In my opinion, the key to the successful development of the automotive industry lies in multilateral cooperation both in the automobile and the auto parts industries. In this regard, the cooperation between China and Thailand, or the larger ASEAN countries will bring more benefits in the following aspects: firstly, international cooperation will faciliate technical exchanges; secondly, international cooperation can cut down the cost of production and management; thirdly, against the backdrop of cooperation, we can build a vast market and strenghthen the export competence of the local auto parts enterprises.”

Mr. Hiroshi HONKAWA, Chief Representative of Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. Beijing Office
“I have personally attended the Summit Forum, opening ceremony and the exhibition. CIAPE 2007 distinguishes itself from other auto parts exhibitions by its scale, content and attendees. The opening ceremony and the summit forums are really impressive.”

Taiwan pavilion
2 delegations from Taiwan participated in CIAPE 2007. According to the report of CarTronicsAsia.com, in order to explore the huge market in mainland China, Taipei CarTronics Promotion Office (TCPO) organized over 20 auto parts enterprises from Taiwan to CIAPE 2007. Taiwan Vehicle Telematics Pavilion in Hall 1 was aimed to provide convenience to buyers worldwide to discover in the shortest possible time quality auto parts suppliers from Taiwan.
Taiwan Vehicle Telematics Pavilion attracted numerous visitors during the exhibition. Many Taiwan exhibitors thought that CIAPE provided the very opportunity to companies that want to enter the auto parts supply chain of the mainland due to its accurate positioning. Contrary to Auto China in Beijing and Auto China in Shanghai, where the general public form the majority of visitors due to the attraction of new car release and sales, visitors of CIAPE are trade visitors for auto parts supply and purchasing. According to the feedback from Taiwan exhibitors, each company could contact with 20 to 50 potential buyers everyday, among which the majority were from purchasing departments of whole car manufacturers in mainland China.
Many professionals visiting CIAPE 2007 were from domestic and joint ventures of whole car enterprises, and showed great interest in such high tech devices as auto communication equipments, auto audio and video products etc. And the joint ventures were especially interested in Taiwan’s products.
According to the exhibitors, it was a common practice for joint ventures in China’s mainland to cooperate with foreign companies in such fields of audio player system due to constrains of certification and cooperation channels. However, though foreign products are of high quality, they are slow in function addition and renewal and high in cost. On the contrary, such equipment produced in Taiwan are not only more diversified in functions but also competitive in price. More importantly, many companies have already passed related certification of whole car enterprises, and can efficiently enter the supply chain of joint ventures in China’s mainland.
Ms. Yang Yingzi, Executive Secretary of TCPO, said that since CIAPE 2007 was such a great success, TCPO would organize a larger Taiwan pavilion for 2008.

The custom-built booths of Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association (TEEMA) were eye-catching in Hall 8.
“Exhibitors from Taiwan are very satisfied with the positioning of CIAPE, the visitors and the booths. They want to attend the next show, and will definitely increase the scale of the Taiwan Pavilion.” said Mr. Dong Yuanxiong, Deputy Director, Mainland Affairs Department, TEEMA.

It was the 1st time for Mr. Liu Jingfu from Taiwan Automotive Research & Testing Center (ARTC) to come to China, and everything was new to him. CIAPE 2007 impressed him with its unprecedented scale and numerous visitors.
He said: “CIAPE 2007 provided us with very good opportunities for communication and learning. We made contact with some potential partners during the exhibition, and will definitely come back next year.”

Mr. Tao Baojian, Vice President of Ruili said: “There are so many customers that we just don’t have enough staffs. Our participation in CIAPE 2007 is very rewarding. We communicated with old customers, got acquainted with new ones, and further enhanced the influence of our group.”

Mr. Zhao Bensheng, Deputy Director of the Marketing Department of Shandong Dongying XinYi Automobile Fitting Co., Ltd.
“Currently there are numerous auto parts exhibitions in China; however, none of them are with such scale and level, and with such big overseas participation like CIAPE 2007. Now many companies go directly to destination countries for exhibition, yet there exists obvious limitation in market range and communication level. CIAPE provides a comprehensive and global platform which meets the urgent need of domestic auto parts companies.”

Mr. Luo Dewei, Director of Marketing Dept. of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd.
“CIAPE meets the demands of the global market and brings new opportunities to domestic companies. Exhibitors are of a high level with many world famous enterprises’ participation. And visitors are all from auto related industries. As to us, we have contacted with many important clients and have closed many deals. The pattern and activities of CIAPE have impressed me a lot. ”

Mr. Xie You, Director of the Marketing Department, Shenzhen Xinyi Glass (Dongguan) Holdings Ltd.
“CIAPE is supported by the Ministry of Commerce of P.R. China. The government plays an important role in promoting the brand images and boosting the overall development of the auto parts industry. It is highly authoritative.”

Mr. Xu Hai, Deputy Manager of Sichuan based Chendu Chengfa Automobile Engine Co., Ltd. said: “CIAPE 2007 surprised me in 3 ways. We never expected the exhibition to be so rewarding - unprecedented scale, grand spectacle and most importantly lots of trade visitors both from home and abroad. We are determined to make earlier preparation for the next expo and will apply for a larger booth.”

Exhibitors from Fujian province, Zhejiang province and Hunan province told the journalists that they attended the expo just for a trial. Yet CIAPE 2007 greatly exceeded their expectation, “CIAPE 2007 not only has many exhibitors and trade visitors, but also attracts great attention of the Chinese government and all parties involved.”

“CIAPE 2007 aimed to introduce excellent Chinese auto parts enterprises to foreign traders and set a good platform for mutual communication as well as for international purchasing. We gain a good opportunity to have face to face contact with trade visitors and acquire the overall developing trend of auto parts industry. The related forums are quite valuable and pragmatic. CNHTC displayed its core products, promoted its company image and realized its goal of participation.”

13 exhibits including auto parts and whole cars with self-independent IPR certifications from Great Wall Motor Company Ltd made its debut at CIAPE 2007. As a world famous Chinese national brand, the Great Wall adhered to self-innovation and research.
Staff from the Great Wall said, “Many visitors think highly of our products after visiting our booth and they feel optimistic about the development of China’s domestic brands. Through this international stage we have shown our new technologies and competence in providing outstanding products with high quality-price ratio and innovation.”

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd.
Well known for its innovative ability, Geely has brought to the exhibition a wide range of products, including core parts such as CVVT—JL4G18 engines, its 4-speed AT and its 6th generation EPS, as well as 3 series of new cars and F1 racing cars. The exhibits demonstrate the R&D ability and breakthrough Geely has achieved in such high-tech fields as engines. Different from its usual practice, Geely has separated the booths for vehicles and auto parts, and outstood all the other domestic brands in terms of booth floorage and exhibit diversity. Numerous visitors have shown strong interest in and had in-depth negotiation with Geely. Geely has shown to the world its new image after strategic transformation.
